19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player won his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid period, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the American major.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive win over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface from that period of 2023.

The win also signifies Medvedev has won 21 victories at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children simultaneously, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to doubt if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

The champion recovered from a break down in the first set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the last five points to go ahead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.

Moutet rescued 4 initial break points in a close deciding set before the champion broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to control a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
